# Quickstart

> Walk from a new Squid ID account to your first identified visitor in about five minutes: create a website, install the snippet, verify, and route to Slack.

This walks you from a new account to your first identified visitor. It takes about five minutes, most of which is waiting for real traffic to hit your site.

## Before you start

* Access to add a script tag to your site, or to your tag manager (Google Tag Manager, Webflow, Shopify, WordPress, and similar all work).
* A Squid ID account.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add a website (and a card)">
    Give your website a name and URL. Squid ID needs a **card on file** to run a site — matches are billed as they come in — so setup adds the card here. Your first website is included (no per-site fee); putting a card on file for the first time also lands a **\$6.25 welcome bonus** (25 matches). No charge until you top up. To add more sites later, use the website switcher. See [Manage websites](/account/manage-websites).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install the snippet">
    Copy your install snippet and paste it into the `<head>` of your site, or add it through your platform. Per-platform steps are in [Install the snippet](/getting-started/install-snippet).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify it's live">
    On the install step, press **Test connection**. Two checks turn green: **Deployed** (the snippet is live) and **Connected** (your site is sending traffic). See [Verify your install](/getting-started/verify).
  </Step>

  <Step title="See a visitor">
    As real traffic comes in, identified visitors and companies appear in the dashboard. See [Identified visitors](/finding-visitors/identified-visitors).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Route to Slack (optional)">
    Connect Slack so new matches land in a channel and your team doesn't have to watch the dashboard. See [Route to Slack](/routing/route-to-slack).
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>Not every visitor resolves to a person, and match volume depends on your traffic. See [Match rate](/how-it-works/match-rate) for what to expect.</Info>
