This walks you from a new account to your first identified visitor. It takes about five minutes, most of which is waiting for real traffic to hit your site.

Before you start

  • Access to add a script tag to your site, or to your tag manager (Google Tag Manager, Webflow, Shopify, WordPress, and similar all work).
  • A Squid ID account.

Steps

1

Add a website (and a card)

Give your website a name and URL. Squid ID needs a card on file to run a site — matches are billed as they come in — so setup adds the card here. Your first website is included (no per-site fee); putting a card on file for the first time also lands a $6.25 welcome bonus (25 matches). No charge until you top up. To add more sites later, use the website switcher. See Manage websites.
2

Install the snippet

Copy your install snippet and paste it into the <head> of your site, or add it through your platform. Per-platform steps are in Install the snippet.
3

Verify it's live

On the install step, press Test connection. Two checks turn green: Deployed (the snippet is live) and Connected (your site is sending traffic). See Verify your install.
4

See a visitor

As real traffic comes in, identified visitors and companies appear in the dashboard. See Identified visitors.
5

Route to Slack (optional)

Connect Slack so new matches land in a channel and your team doesn’t have to watch the dashboard. See Route to Slack.
Not every visitor resolves to a person, and match volume depends on your traffic. See Match rate for what to expect.
