Why this matters. Page rules let you scope where identification runs, which is a practical lever for limiting processing to the pages where you actually need it.

What Squid ID collects

Squid ID loads from a single snippet on your site and records behavioral signals from page views, which can include page navigation, clicks, form submits, scroll, and performance data, depending on your capture flags. It uses these signals to identify the person and company behind a visit and presents that in your dashboard. You control which signals are recorded per website with capture flags, and which pages run identification with page rules. See Managing websites.

Controlling where identification runs

You can narrow identification to specific pages with an inclusion list, or skip specific pages with an exclusion list, under your website’s page rules. This is useful for excluding pages where you do not want identification to run.

GDPR and CCPA

If you serve visitors in jurisdictions covered by GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, you are the data controller for your site and are responsible for having a lawful basis for processing and for honoring data-subject requests. Consider:
  • Whether consent or another lawful basis applies before identification runs on a given page or region.
  • Using page rules to exclude pages or flows where identification is not appropriate.
  • Your process for handling access, deletion, and opt-out requests.

Updating your privacy policy

If your site uses Squid ID, review your privacy policy with your counsel to make sure it accurately describes the visitor data you collect and how it is used. We do not provide policy language, and nothing here is a legal guarantee.
